J&K High Court: Right to Speedy Trial Includes Appeals; Closes 46-Year-Old Criminal Case Due to Delay - (30 Dec 2025)

Highlighting the human cost of prolonged criminal proceedings, the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court closed a case stemming from a 1979 incident, holding that enforcing the remaining substantive sentence after decades of delay would serve no meaningful purpose.
