Supreme Court: Forest Land Cannot Be Leased or Used For Agriculture Without Centre’s Approval - (19 Dec 2025)

ENVIRONMENT

SC held that forest land cannot be leased or used for agricultural purposes without prior approval of the Central Government under Section 2 of the Forest (Conservation) Act, 1980, and ruled that any lease granted in violation of this requirement is illegal and cannot be allowed to continue.
