Supreme Court: Items Given by Accused to Police Are Not Section 27 Recoveries under Evidence Act - (18 Dec 2025)

LAW OF EVIDENCE

Supreme Court held that items handed over by an accused during a police check cannot be treated as recoveries under Section 27 of the Evidence Act, as a disclosure must involve prior concealment and the police’s discovery must directly result from the accused’s information.
