Supreme Court: Stamp Duty Relief for Co-Operative Societies Cannot Depend on Extra-Legal Verification - (08 Dec 2025)

Supreme Court has struck down a Jharkhand Government memo that required co-operative societies to secure an Assistant Registrar’s recommendation before availing stamp duty exemption under Section 9A of the Indian Stamp (Bihar Amendment) Act for property transfers to members.
