Supreme Court: Tenant Must Pay Rent Despite Appeal Against Fixation Order Without Stay - (13 Nov 2025)

TENANCY

Supreme Court held that a tenant cannot avoid paying rent or evade eviction by citing a pending appeal against a “fair rent” order without obtaining a stay. The Court upheld eviction for wilful default, noting the tenant never sought a stay on the fixed fair rent despite appealing.
