Supreme Court: Bar Councils Cannot Charge Over Rs 750 for Enrollment or Withhold Applicants’ Docs - (31 Oct 2025)

CIVIL

Supreme Court has given State Bar Councils a final chance to comply with its directions, warning they cannot charge enrollment fees above Rs 750 for general category advocates or Rs 125 for SC/ST advocates, as per Section 24 of the Advocates Act, 1961, or withhold applicants’ documents.
