Cabinet approves National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme - (05 Jul 2016)

The Union Cabinet approved implementation of the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme, by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

To achieve its goal of training 50 lakh apprentices by 2019-2020, the Scheme will be bolstered by a Rs.10,000 crore pot; aside from spend on training and administration of the Scheme, the government will provide employers what is effectively a 25 per cent subsidy on the stipend payable to apprentices hired.
