Calcutta HC: Identity of a Child is an Integral Part of Her Personal Development and Autonomy - (22 Jul 2025)

Calcutta HC has held that the identity of a child, including her surname is an integral part of her personal development and autonomy. Courts have held that when change in name/surname does not adversely affect any legal or statutory right of a third party such change ought to be allowed.
