SC: Arresting Accused Once Chargesheet is Filed and Cognizance is Taken is Unusual - (21 Jan 2025)

CRIMINAL

Supreme Court while deprecating the practice of police arresting an accused once chargesheet has been filed and cognizance has been taken, has termed the practice as ‘unusual’ and stated that such practice does not make any sense.
