SC: Section 143 of Railways Act Seeks to Remedy Illegal Sale of Tickets Irrespective of the Mode - (10 Jan 2025)

CRIMINAL

SC has observed that Section 143 of Railways Act, 1989 makes no distinction between physical and online sale of tickets. The mischief that the provision seeks to remedy is that there should not be illegal and unauthorized procurement and sale of tickets, whatever be the mode – physical or online.
