Inordinate Delay in Execution of Death Sentence has a Dehumanising Effect on Accused - (10 Dec 2024)

CRIMINAL

SC has held that an inordinate delay in the execution of the sentence of death has a dehumanising effect on the accused and an inordinate and unexplained delay caused by circumstances beyond the prisoners' control mandates the commutation of a death sentence.
