Results of TRAI audit on cellular quality in Delhi; app for DND complaints- (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) (01 Jun 2016)

Media and Communication

Results of drive tests commissioned by TRAI in Delhi for service quality audit of telecom services in the capital yielded mixed results.

While private GSM operators fell within thresholds of acceptable service quality for several parameters, publicly owned and operated MTNL proved a somewhat less than satisfactory performer. Its dropped call rate for May 2016 of over 10 per cent and 8 per cent for 2G and 3G networks, respectively, dwarfed those of private companies which showed consistently better performance in the metric.

TRAI also released a ’DND Services’ mobile application for managing unsolicited commercial communication. Consumers can file complaints using the application and track status of the complaint. The application is available in Google’s Play Store and the Indian government’s Mobile Seva App store.
