SC: Information Disclosing Cognizable Offence to Be Recorded as FIR & Not in General Diary - (27 Feb 2024)

CRIMINAL

Supreme Court has held that except in cases where preliminary inquiry is needed, commission of cognizable offence should be recorded as a First Information Report (FIR) and not in the General Diary that is maintained by police.
