SC: Conviction under SC/ST Act Can’t Sustain if Offence u/s 3(1)(xi) Not Committed on Caste Basis - (30 Jan 2024)

CRIMINAL

Supreme Court has held that the conviction for the offence punishable under Section 3(1)(xi) of the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act, 1989 (SC/ST Act) cannot be sustained if the act of outraging the modesty of a woman was not committed on the ground of caste.
