SC: Police Chief Can’t Order Further Investigation Without Magistrate/Higher Court’s Permission - (08 May 2023)

CRIMINAL

Supreme Court while observing that order from District Police Chief is not same as an order issued by concerned Magistrate, has held that power to order further investigation rests with either with concerned magistrate or with a higher court and not with investigating agency.
