TRAI releases paper on Radio Audience Measurement and ratings- (Telecom Regulatory Authority of India) (15 Mar 2016)

MANU/PIBU/0320/2016

Media and Communication

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India released a consultation paper "Issues Related to Radio Audience Measurement and Ratings in India".

Measuring radio audience preferences and listening habits provides advertisers and advertising agencies with information about the popularity of a channel or program. It also helps create content that appeals to listeners. At present radio ratings in India are conducted by All India Radio and TAM Media Research, a private ratings agency co-owned by IMRB International and Nielsen Media Research. Concerns have been raised about inadequate coverage of such surveys and the panel size of the radio audience measurement conducted by the private agency, not to mention the methodology.

Comments on the consultation papers are being received till 11 April 2016.
