Punjab and Haryana HC Criticises Lower Court For Awarding Lesser Sentence in Rape Case - (14 Aug 2015)

Punjab and Haryana HC has criticised local court for convicting rape accused under wrong Section of Indian Penal Code, resulting in a milder sentence. Taking suo motu cognisance of matter, order was set aside, awarding a seven-year sentence to convict, before remanding matter back.
