Supreme Court Refuses to Stay Citizenship Amendment Act Without Hearing Centre - (23 Jan 2020)

CIVIL

Supreme Court has refused to grant a stay on the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 (CAA) without hearing the Centre. The Court has declined to take note of protests and anti- CAA resolutions by the Kerala and Punjab Assemblies. It has further rejected the Pleas for deferment processes relating to the National Population Register as a corollary to CAA.
