Government Bans E-Cigarettes Citing Health Risk to Youth - (19 Sep 2019)

Union Cabinet has approved an ordinance namely the Prohibition of Electronic Cigarettes (Production, Manufacture, Import, Export, Transport, Sale, Distribution, Storage and Advertisement) Ordinance, 2019 banning production, import, distribution and sale of electronic cigarettes. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who headed a Group of Ministers on the issue, said the decision to ban e-cigarettes was taken as they were a health risk to the youth.
