Rajasthan High Court Bans Jain Starvation Ritual 'Santhara' - (11 Aug 2015)

Rajasthan High Court has banned Jain starvation ritual “Santhara” , making it punishable under sections 306 and 309 Indian Penal Code (Abetment of Suicide), stating that fasting till death is not essential tenet of Jainism.
