TRAI adamant on GPS in all mobile phones - (01 Oct 2015)

TRAI’s proposals to set a cut-off date after which all mobiles sold in the country would incorporate Global Positioning System functionality were rejected by the Department of Telecom for the difficulty in including the cost-adding capability in low-cost handsets. TRAI remained adamant, however, that such a move would make tracing phones from which emergency calls are made much more efficient.
