SC: Modification of Sentence From Life Imprisonment to 20-Yr RI Not Enhancement, But Reduction - (11 Oct 2017)

Supreme Court, while reiterating that life imprisonment means imprisonment for full life & not for 14 years, has observed that modification of sentence to LI to 20-year rigorous imprisonment is not enhancement, rather reduction of sentence, & hence no notice is required to be given u/s 401 of CrPC.
